Our January Spotlight is Anna Rivoli.

She was born and raised in Rochester, NY. She was inspired to begin her business after she retired from her teaching career. It started out as small projects with items from her home, along with projects for her friends. Anna said, "I love finding pieces that can be fixed and tweaked to be given a 2nd chance". In the midst of her new hobby, she also volunteered to help families in need by donating furniture.

After accumulating many items from Facebook Marketplace, her friends, and her own personal decor, she decided that it would be a good idea to join a co-op to sell some items and see if anyone would be interested in the items she upcycled and/or redesigned. She started out at the Downtown Browsery and then became a Merchant at Modern Mercantile a month after we opened. Anna loves Modern Mercantile for many reasons. She said, "I have respect for the various types of creativity displayed by each Merchant. Everyone has their own unique talent. The patrons are just as special as the Merchants."

Anna always had a creative side and loves art but never pursued it in school. Now that she has more time, she is excited to be able to do what she has always loved to do. She really enjoys decoupage and using transfers when working on something. Anna also loves interior design, and she has volunteered at the "Homearamas" event in the Rochester area, which is an event that shows off a new neighborhood of homes that were just built. She has also helped set up for photo shoots as well.

One fun fact about Anna is that she was the President of the Invention Convention in the Finger Lakes area for 10 years. She did this through the Rochester Museum and Science Center. She told us that; "Students would submit their new inventions and I would have local celebrities judge them."

Stop on in and check out Anna's creativity.
